About Our Methods

Here at Electric Unicorn we believe Hair extensions should never look like hair extensions, and we customise every fitting to suit each individual client, and determine the best method for you at a thorough consultation.

Our most popular methods are described below:

Individual micro rings
What is it?

  • Micro rings are small metal beads used to hold individual pieces of extensions. This is a no heat, no glue method so extremely safe on the natural hair

Who is it suitable for?

  • Perfect for all clients with medium - thick hair, looking to achieve extra length, thickess, or both. 

How long does it take to fit?

  • 1.5 - 2 hours depending on the amount of hair required

How long does the method last?

  • We advise a maintenance appointment approx 6 weeks after initial fitting

  • A full removal and refit approx 12 weeks after initial fitting

 

 

Fusion Bonds
What is it?

  • Individual pieces of hair extensions are bonded with heat to the natural hair using keratin. Can be worn for up to 3 months between refits depending on care.

Who is it suitable for?

  • Perfect for all clients except those with very heat or colour damage. A great option for clients with fine hair. Requires a long appointment for both fitting and removal.

How long does it take to fit?

  • 2-3.5 hours depending on the amount of hair required

How long does the method last?

  • We advise a maintenance appointment approx 8 weeks after initial fitting

  • A full removal and refit approx 16 weeks after initial fitting

  • Extensions need retipping between fittings, takes approx 2 weeks.

 

 

Individual nano rings
What is it?

  • Nano rings are 90% smaller than micro rings, offering all the benefits of micro rings but far less detectable and more comfortable

Who is it suitable for?

  • Perfect for all clients, even those with fine hair, looking to achieve extra length, thickess, or both. 

How long does it take to fit?

  • 1.5 - 2.5 hours depending on the amount of hair required

How long does the method last?

  • We advise a maintenance appointment approx 6 weeks after initial fitting

  • A full removal and refit approx 12 weeks after initial fitting

 

 

Tape
What is it?

  • 4cm strips of pre taped hair extensions placed so your natural hair is sandwiched between two sets. Extremely flat and virtually undectable

Who is it suitable for?

  • Perfect for all clients, aswell as recovering cancer patients. The best option for those with fine hair or people after a quick method!

How long does it take to fit?

  • 45 minutes depending on the amount of hair required

How long does the method last?

  • We advise a removal/refit appointment approx 8-10 weeks after initial fitting

  • Extensions need retaping between fittings, usually available next day, in exceptional circumstances refits can be done at the same time as removal

 

 

T-Weave - exclusive to Electric Unicorn
What is it?

  • A Braidless sew in method, using micro rings similar to the LA weave but more secure, and much kinder to the scalp than the classic braided weave.

Who is it suitable for?

  • Perfect for adding length and thickness to medium - thick hair. A great option for clients new to extensions

How long does it take to fit?

  • About an hour. The amount of rows required varies depending on look desired

How long does the method last?

  • We advise regular tightenings every    6-8 weeks after initial fitting

  • Tightenings or new hair fittings can be done immediatly after removal

 

Double Ended Dreads
What is it?

  • Pencil thin synthetic dreadlocks, braided onto sections of your natural hair. Each dread creates 2 locks in total. These cause no damage to your hair and can be removed as easily as they were installed

Who is it suitable for?

  • Perfect for any client with enough hair to braid.  Excellent for stress free holidays, and festivals.

How long does it take to fit?

  • 2-3 hours depending on the amount of hair required

How long does the method last?

  • We recommend having your dreads maintained and tidied approx 6-8 weeks after initial fitting depending on your desired look.

  • A complete refit is advised a further 6-8 weeks later, and can be done immediatly
